The Grandes Rousses plateau at 2800m altitude
700m higher up, you’ll find a completely different atmosphere. The vivid ochre rocks of the Grandes Rousses massif will transport you into a lunar, poetic landscape. To the north, a series of young lakes born of melting glaciers, giving them crystal-clear turquoise water. To the south, the immensity of Lac Blanc and views of Alpe d’Huez and the Parc des Ecrins. For the more adventurous, you can take the Pas de la Cochette trail to the Col du Couard and Vaujany. The Barbarate glacier and Pic Bayle will be watching you from their promontory, over 3000m above sea level.
